AFTER CARE

Please follow the aftercare instructions carefully for the best results for your new tattoo related work (regardless if it's cosmetic or regular tattooing).

We will ask that you keep your tattooed area clean and free of foreign debris. Air dry as much as possible while it's healing. Please do not soak your new artwork.

If we are able to place a band aid on the tattooed area, you may remove the band aid after one hour, or as soon as you are home. You want the area to air out as much as possible, but should avoid area's that will subject your tattoo to unclean surfaces.

DO:

  •  Always wash your hands with an anti-bacteria soap, before touching any tattooed area.

  •  Clean the area several times a day with a watered down anti-bacteria soap and tepid or cool water.

  • Use only your fingertips to clean the area. Avoid using a washcloth, for the cloth may accidentally pull out a chunk of color still attached to the scab that is healing.

  • If using Bacitracin, A&D,  Tat Wax, or similar. Place a very small amount of the product THINLY over the entire tattoo. Do not coat it on thick, you want it to still breath.

  • Continue to do this twice to three times a day, for the first two weeks, or until the scabs are gone.

  • Use sunscreen, If going out into the sun.

  • Take a slightly hot shower. This will get the blood to the surface, giving your tattoo a fresh blood supply for aiding in healing it.

  • Massage the tattoo and around it, (make sure hands were washed first). This will help stop the muscles from being sore, due to tensing up from the tattoo procedure. Massage also is known to help break down scar tissue and promote faster healing.

DO NOT:

  • Pick or scratch the area

  • Soak in water

  • Swim in Chlorinated Pools / Sauna's until completely healed.

  • Over coat with too much ointment

  • Touch it with out washing hands first

  • Let anyone else touch it (unless it's your health care specialist) until it's completely healed.

PERMANENT COSMETICS

NO HOT SHOWERS and if you are going out into the sun, use a sunscreen by applying it with a cotton swab on brows or beauty marks. Wear sunglasses for eye protection in the sun and SPF-30+ Chap stick for the lips. At least until it's totally healed.

THINGS THAT ARE OK

  • Cotton clothes or soft clothes over it

  • Ice Pack, with a clean, soft cotton cloth in between

  • Tylenol or Advil if you normally take these OTC meds or

  • Any medication your doctor has approved for you.

PERMANENT COSMETIC CLIENTS

It is ok to place mascara on your new eyeliner, as long as you are the only one who has ever used your eyelash mascara. We recommend buying a new one just to be sure. This mascara should be WATER WASHABLE ONLY. So mild soap and water will take it off.

It is ok to place some Lipstick on top of your lip liner, only if nobody but you has used your lip stick. If your not sure, then don't do it and buy a new one. When it's healed, you can go back to using your old lipstick.

If your brows are a little too dark at first, it's normal and with in a few days will lighten up.

HEALING TIME INVOLVED

Regular tattoo's take up to two weeks to heal completely.

Permanent Cosmetics are slightly faster, but still to be on the safe side, continue treating it as if it's new for two full weeks.

A retouch on color will not be given any sooner than two weeks after application (if needed).   A free touch up on permanent cosmetics is no longer available after 6 weeks.

When to call your physician:

When your tattoo is swelling worse after the first few days, or when it's looking infected. (I.e. oozing, white puss, excessive redness or has other signs of getting worse instead of better).

In the event of a problem with any tattoo related work that ended up needing the care of a physician: please notify us of the problem. We will need all the and name of your physician, and details given to you regarding this matter. By law, we must report it to our local Health Department.

Please Note: Permanent Beauty, Inc.  / Alternative Arts Academy, has never had a client who became infected as a result from their decision to get tattoo related work done.
